Multichannel, nächste Runde

n2N Commerce / Victoria's Secret

It’s a sure sign of changing times when a $1.3 billion direct-to-customer, multichannel business decides to switch to a software-as-a-service platform. The big news related to the n2N model is the scale involved. Prior to this, only small- to medium-sized companies have used on-demand solutions. N2N’s goal is to be the first cross-channel, on-demand, e-commerce software solution designed for large multichannel retailers.

Tamara Mendelsohn von Forrester ist vorsichtiger:

The company is targeting only the very largest of retailers (top 50), so it has the advantage of a highly targeted audience, however with such a small market they have limited opportunities and a limited timeframe. Its first challenge is putting this platform together — it has chosen the technologies pretty wisely to speed up the development process, but despite a very aggressive time frame with Victoria Secret and by the time it brings the full solution to market, it may have missed the boat – there are several other vendors who have come to me recently with plans to do the same thing, and many retailers are beginning the replatforming process — choosing vendors and creating a strategy — NOW.
